Jake Shears has revealed that he would like to make another Scissor Sisters record.
Speaking in a new interview with NME, the groupās former frontman said the music heās making now sounds like the type of stuff he would be doing if Scissor Sisters were still together.
āI really want to make another Scissors record,ā Shears said of his former group, who havenāt released an album since 2012ās āMagic Hourā. āI donāt know when thatās gonna be.ā
He continued: ā[In a way], I feel like Iām making the music [now] that I would be making if Scissor Sisters were still together.ā
Shears added that in order for a reunion to happen, everyone ā including former bandmates Babydaddy, Ana Matronic, Del Marquis and Randy Real ā needs to be in the same place in terms of schedule and motivation, and he wouldnāt want to force anyone into it.
āI think so. I think everybody would need to want to do it,ā he said during his āIn Conversationā chat with NME. āI donāt wanna twist anybodyās arm ā that would be no fun.ā
Next year, Scissor Sistersā āMagic Hourā will celebrate its 10th anniversary. However, Shears isnāt keen on the idea of getting the group back together to mark the occasion.
āI donāt think I would be into that. I would want to make new music,ā he said.
Meanwhile, Jake Shears has released a dazzling new disco banger called āDo The Televisionā.
The track is his first new music of 2021 and follows last yearās āMeltdownā, a āheavy homage and deep tribute to the fabulous [70s and 80s disco icon] Sylvesterā, whose vocal stylings have always been āa huge inspiration toā Shears.
The idea for āDo The Televisionā first emerged when Shears was writing Scissor Sistersā third album, āNight Workā, which turned 10 last year. The albumās anniversary inspired him to reflect, rewrite and start the single from scratch.
