Nicki Minaj has reminisced on the first time she met Foxy Brown, telling fans that she thought she was “the prettiest”.
Brown celebrated her 46th birthday on September 6, and Minaj honoured the hip-hop revolutionary’s big day while on stage at the Pittsburgh “Gag City” stop on her highly-acclaimed ‘Pink Friday 2 World Tour’.
The designated tour DJ, DJ Boof, played some of Brown’s music including her seminal track, ‘Get You Home’ with Blackstreet. Minaj also encouraged her fans to wish “King Fox” a happy birthday online.
While scrolling through X/Twitter, Minaj found a tweet made by one of her Barbs which praised Brown’s beauty. The fan wrote: “#HBDKINGFOX LIKE JUST LOOK AT HER @NICKIMINAJ.”
Minaj replied to the fan, tweeting: “Like?!?!! FROM BIRTH!!!! BIRTH!!! [The] first time I met her on The Come Up DVD I couldn’t stop complimenting her. Looked better in person. Soft ass beautiful skin. From hair to toe.
“Every feature on that face did what needed to be done!!! the PRETTIEST!!! And there’s no runner-up!!!”

Minaj referred to the joint interview she did with Brown for The Come Up back in 2009. On there, she also sang her praises for the Don Diva.
“She always held her own with the dudes,” Minaj began to explain how much of an inspiration Brown was for her. “You listen to Foxy Brown with n****s and feel like, ‘Here comes the female part’. She always holds her own and make[s] a n**** wanna rewrite [their] shit. She make[s] a n**** step they dick up on a track.”
Minaj added: “From day one […] she [has] always been a boss bitch, but she always made me feel like [she thought], ‘Yo! I really like you,’ and that was big coming from her.”
Brown said: “You know what’s crazy? Just even standing here and hearing her say that – that’s how I look up to [one of the earliest female rap trailblazers] Roxanne Shanté, who is my idol.”
Minaj and Brown finally collaborated nine years later on ‘Coco Chanel’ from the former’s fourth studio album, ‘Queen’.
Minaj released the long-awaited deluxe edition of her latest album ‘Pink Friday 2’ – titled ‘Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded’ – last Friday (September 13).
The New Yorker is currently on the second North American leg of her ‘Pink Friday 2 World Tour’. At her recent show in Madison Square Garden, Minaj brought out soca legend Machel Montano to perform his and Destra’s classic ‘Carnival’, and A$AP Ferg surprised fans and performed the ‘Plain Jane (Remix)’ with her.
