Scarlett Johansson has revealed she turned down a studio’s request to join Instagram to promote her role in the upcoming blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth.

In the seventh film in the franchise that began with Jurassic Park, Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a covert operation expert recruited to join a team on a secret mission to infiltrate the island that served as the research facility for the original Jurassic Park.
The film co-stars Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey, and is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One). The film comes to cinemas worldwide on July 2.
In a recent interview with InStyle Magazine, the actor revealed that a request from the studio behind the movie led her to question whether she could handle the world of social media.
“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal (Pictures), and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth?” she recalled. “I get a lot of pressure to join social media. (It made me wonder)… is there a way where I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could”.
Scarlett Johansson has largely stayed away from social media during her career, saying in an appearance on Him & Her Show podcast that she was too “fragile” to use it.
“I have enough anxiety” she said, “That would give me too much anxiety”. She then shared that: “I had Instagram once for three days, and when I’d started realise that I’d spent 20 minutes looking at someone’s Instagram page… I was like ‘I just wasted 17 minutes of time!’”
Recently, the star waded into a social media debate after an AI-generated version of her was used in a video to condemn the online posts of Kanye West.
