Fred Again.. stopped his first headline stadium show in the US while performing a song in the crowd to tell fans to get off the stage – check out the footage below.
The South London-born producer, born Fred Gibson, brought a synthesiser into the stands to perform ‘Adore U’ with Obongjayar during Friday’s (June 14) show, but had to pause the song to tell fans to get off the stage after they decided to turn it into a spontaneous rave.
Also at the show at the 77,500-capacity Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, he brought Romy out for her 2022 single ‘Strong’, which he appeared on.
The following day, he posted photos from the show on social media, saying, “I will never forget that, thank you.”
Fred again.. headlined the final night of Bonnaroo on Sunday (June 16) in Manchester, Tennessee, while earlier this month he had a three-day residency at the Frost Amphitheatre in Stanford, California.
He recently toured Australia, too, bringing out Angie McMahon to sing ‘Angie (I’ve Been Lost)’, which samples the Melbourne singer-songwriter.
He only announced the Memorial Coliseum show on June 9, saying on social media, “We been working on this for monthsssss and it’s definitely the maddest live show we’ve ever tried to do so far.”
Later this summer, Fred again.. will headline Reading & Leeds in August, as well as playing Flow Festival in Helsinki.
NME gave his last full-length album, ‘Secret Life’ – a collaboration with Brian Eno – three stars, saying: “Released just a few weeks after Fred closed Coachella with a set of thunderous dance and techno alongside Four Tet and Skrillex, ‘Secret Life’ sees him handbrake turn once again into ambient haze, assisted by the man who made it all happen for him. This surprise album – despite its frequent beauty – works best as a puzzle piece rather than a standout record in its own right.”
