Orlando Weeks has announced a UK headline tour for this autumn, following the release of his new album ‘Loja’. Find all the details below.

The former Maccabees frontman will kick off the tour in Newcastle on September 24. He’ll then make stops in Manchester (September 25), Norwich (26), Leeds (27), Bristol (28), Southampton (October 2) and London (3).

Weeks’ upcoming tour is scheduled to conclude in Brighton on October 4. Tickets for all dates go on sale at 10am BST this Friday (July 12) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. Check out the full itinerary in the announcement post below.

Weeks’ latest album ‘Loja’, which was released on June 6 via Fiction Records, was written as he moved from London to Lisbon. It contains 11 tracks, including the single ‘Dig’ featuring Wet Leg‘s Rhian Teasdale.

The song was described as an “under your breath half-argument, the kind that only ever happens in public”.

Speaking about ‘Loja’, Weeks said: “The great change in our lives was that we left London and moved to Lisbon, and the record definitely has elements of being a love letter to the place that we now call home.

“But I think the move provided a stirring of the waters. It threw up an awful lot of stuff and it gave us perspective and hindsight because suddenly there was distance. You can re-evaluate the things you were too close to, those things that there was no point spending time thinking about because it was the day-to-day bubble you were in.”

The album was primarily recorded in Chale Abbey Studios on the Isle of Wight. It was co-produced by Sergio Maschetzko (Black Country, New Road) and David Granshaw, along with Nathan Jenkins (Bullion).

In 2022, NME spoke to Weeks about his previous album ‘Hop Up’. He talked about how parenthood had changed the way he makes his music: “You have less time, you’re more tired so how do you work smarter rather than longer.”

‘Hop Up’ earned a four-star review from NME: “This is an album about embracing the hopefulness of new life and striving to share Weeks’ singular, miraculous happiness with anyone who might be dragging their feet, stumbling upon the songs with little excitement about a currently dreary day-to-day. You finish this collection feeling lighter, a little more optimistic about what the world has to offer.”

Meanwhile, 86TVs – a band partly comprised of former Maccabees members Felix and Hugo White – have announced their self-titled debut album, which is due to be released on August 2.
